Eli Manning Visits The Compound

This Week on The Compound

This week on The Compound

This week New York Giants great Eli Manning joined The Compound. Eli and Michael talked some football. Josh and Drew Sheinman, Founding Partner of Brand Velocity Group, joined in to discuss BVG’s unique approach to private equity and how Eli climbed the learning curve as a firm partner. Also, see why Michael called this one of the top ten days of his life. (Listen)

OUTSIDE THE COMPOUND

If you are fortunate enough to make it to middle age, there is a decent chance you will see a dip in happiness. Ben Carlson at A Wealth of Common Sense looks at the data and some things to do to blunt the mid-life blues.

Gratitude helps. These days it’s easy to look at others with better jobs, bigger houses, nicer cars and more money than you and feel inadequate. You’re never going to solve that problem because there will always be richer and more successful people than you.

FRIENDS OF THE COMPOUND

Kai Wu of Sparkline Capital was a guest on TCAF #30. In a week that Bitcoin topped $60,000, Wu posted a big research piece on crypto factor investing. However, some crypto skeptics were not all that impressed.

The proliferation of hundreds of altcoins has created a need for proper asset-pricing models. Luckily, we can repurpose existing “factor models,” which are widely used in traditional markets and backed by decades of rigorous academic and practitioner research (e.g., Fama-French, BARRA).

MERCH

If it’s good enough for Eli Manning’s cup of joe, it’s good enough for you. Check out the 60/40 coffee mug at idontshop.com.

COMING SOON
