This week on The Compound

This week on TCAF, Josh and Michael were joined by Meb Faber, co-founder, CEO, and CIO of Cambria Investments and host of his own popular podcast, The Meb Faber Show. This discussed why trend following works, dividends vs. buybacks, the evolving ETF landscape, and what it means if someone describes you as ‘salt of the earth.’ (Listen)

OUTSIDE THE COMPOUND

There is no shortage of AI hype, especially when talking about stocks like Nvidia and Super Micro. For most of us, however, the most significant impact of AI is going to be in the real world. Michael Batnick writing at The Irrelevant Investor:

There’s no doubt that advancements made possible by this technology [generative AI] are going to lead to increased economic output. It’s also going to save who knows how many lives over the next couple of decades.

FRIENDS OF THE COMPOUND

Prior TCAF guest Howard Lindzon had an interesting post talking about the rise of the attention economy. We all invest our time, so it’s good to think about how to do it best. Lindzon writes:

There is only so much time in everyone’s day and since time is money and every human with money to spend or invest is holding a smartphone, attention is now an asset class that - at least for me - is as important as bonds or commodities.

COMING SOON

Next week on TCAF, Josh and Michael will be joined by two returning guests: Dion Rabouin, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, and markets nerd Callie Cox.
