This Week on The Compound

In Case You Missed It...

Your weekly wrap-up of everything going on in The Compound.

INSIDE THE COMPOUND

On TCAF 125, Josh and Michael were joined by Dan Ives of Wedbush Securities. They talked about Las Vegas, CES 2024, AI, the outlook for Tesla, cybersecurity stocks, and much more. (Listen)

OUTSIDE THE COMPOUND

@Austen on X asked: “Why isn’t the ideal investment strategy for 99% of people under the age of ~45 just putting 100% of cash directly in the S&P 500?”

Nick Maggiulli on Dollars and Data in “Should Your Portfolio Be 100 U.S. Stocks?” looked at this question. He notes: “So while it’s easy to say everyone should own 100% U.S. stocks because it will make them richer in the long run, this is only true if they don’t bail on it at the wrong time.“

FRIENDS OF THE COMPOUND

Kai Wu of Sparkline Capital, who appeared on TCAF 30, published a big research report this week on Superstar Brands featuring Taylor Swift, Barbie, and Harley-Davidson.

From the piece: "Superstar brands are reaching new heights in the digital age, yet many remain undervalued. We identify superstar brands with trademark moats, exposure to growing product markets, and high web search interest. Consistent with prior research on “intangible value,” firms with undervalued brand portfolios have outperformed the stock market.”

MERCH

It’s beanie weather!

It’s getting cold out there! So it may be time for a new beanie from idontshop.com, where you can find ALL the merchandise featured on the shows.

COMING UP

Stay tuned! Next week, Josh and Michael welcome Adam Parker, CEO and Founder of Trivariate Research LP, to TCAF.
