The Consumer is Going to Be Just Fine

This week on The Compound

This week on TCAF, Josh and Michael were joined by Peter Boockvar, Chief Investment Officer of Bleakley Financial Group, and Dan Greenhaus, Chief Strategist at Solus Alternative Asset Management. They discussed how inflation works, comparing the stock market to what went on in the 90s and how the consumer is really doing. (Listen)

OUTSIDE THE COMPOUND

Crypto has been at dominating the news for the past few weeks. Nick Maggiulli at Of Dollars and Data sees something very different in this crypto rally versus the previous one.

This rally is so different because no one is beating around the bush anymore. It’s not about technology. It’s not about use cases or improving the world. It’s just, “More people buy, number go up.” The veil has been lifted and we all know it. It’s a momentum trade plain and simple.

FRIENDS OF THE COMPOUND

This week Josh spoke with Drew Dickson of Albert Bridge Capital about the state of European stocks. In this recent post, Dickson wrote about the importance of the fundamentals and blocking out as much noise as possible.

But I am as convinced as ever that, eventually, it is the fundamentals that matter. Eventually, the market is a weighing machine. If you want some evidence – even from some of the most iconic, well-followed, index-heavy, retail-engaged, pod-owned, successful companies, it is still, eventually, about the fundies.
