INSIDE THE COMPOUND
If you have been investing for any amount of time, there is a good chance you have experienced a big winning stock. The challenge for most people is when to sell. There are no easy answers. Ben Carlson at A Wealth of Common Sense looks at some criteria that should prompt you to sell. Also, Blair duQuesnay at The Belle Curve looks at three different strategies you could follow. She writes:
Ask yourself: What would I regret the most? Losing my gains by holding on too long or missing out on more gains by selling too early. If you react strongly to either question, you should consider options 2 or 1: Ripping the Band-Aid or Never Sell. But if you feel a mix of emotions, you may find yourself Stuck in the Middle. The best thing you can do is to develop a plan to sell over time and to commit wholeheartedly to executing it.
OUTSIDE THE COMPOUND
A lot has been made about the circular nature of the AI ecosystem. Companies investing in another for chips and compute. Owen Lamont, a previous Live from The Compound guest, notes that cross-holdings like this are not unusual historically. He examines the case for an AI bubble and notes the necessary conditions. He writes:
A stock market bubble is not about the circular flow of money in a closed system. A stock market bubble is about the flow of money from optimistic/gullible investors into the stock market. Ouroboros, the snake eating its own tail, is not a good model for a stock market bubble. A better model is an anglerfish: using a bioluminescent appendage, the anglerfish lures unwary prey and then gobbles it down.
