This Week on The Compound

This week, at Future Proof 2024, Josh and Michael spoke live with Peter Mallouk, President and CEO of Creative Planning. They discussed the state of the financial planning industry, the challenges of growing a firm, and how to approach a private equity investment. (Listen)

INSIDE THE COMPOUND

This past week the Compound crew was at Future Proof 2024, the world’s premier wealth festival. Barry Ritholtz, Blair duQuesnay, and Michael Batnick all recounted their experiences on the ocean in Huntington Beach, CA. Joshua Brown wrote a longer piece laying out the ‘seven secret ingredients’ required to successfully put on a massive event like Future Proof.

Events that prioritize attendee experience will, by default, end up with happy sponsors and great speakers because everyone will want to be there. Events that prioritize putting sponsors on panels and hiring former athletes to deliver platitudes about “culture” and “leadership” will not.

FRIENDS OF THE COMPOUND

If you are reading this there is a decent chance you are addicted to being busy. It’s arguably one of the few addictions that isn’t looked down upon. However, prior TCAF guest Phil Pearlman argues that by flipping your priorities, you can beat a busyness addiction and be better off for it.

It’s a false paradox, because when you get yourself feeling great physically, mentally, and spiritually, time opens up like a secret room behind a bookcase in an old house.

MERCH

Future Proof 2024 saw a lot of these Hawaiian shirts on the boardwalk. They are a collaboration between The Compound and Tropical Bros. The best part is that 10% of all sales will be donated to No Kid Hungry. Use the code Summer25 for an additional discount.

COMING SOON

Next week on TCAF, Josh and Michael will be joined by returning guest Tom Lee, Co-Founder and Head of Research at FundStrat.
