Recession Resistance

This Week on The Compound

This Week on The Compound

This week on TCAF, Josh and Michael were joined by Rick Rieder, CIO of Global Fixed Income at BlackRock. They discussed Rick’s career path, the resilient American economy, growing market concentration, why negative interest rates backfire, and the growth in private credit. (Listen)

CHART OF THE WEEK

The S&P 500 has returned more than 30% year-to-date. So it shouldn’t be surprising that the market has hit a number of new all-time highs this year. This can understandably make investors nervous, but it is something you need to come to terms with. What you need is a plan that you can stick with over time. Ben Carlson at A Wealth of Common Sense writes:

My general rule of thumb is you should only invest in the stock market an amount you would be willing to hold through both bull and bear markets. No one can predict when stocks will take off or get crushed so your asset allocation should take that into account.

THE UNLOCK

Over on our advisor-focused channel, The Unlock, Josh Brown spoke with Samantha Russell, Chief Evangelist at FMG Suite. They discussed the importance of getting your firm’s content in front of prospects where they spend the most time, which increasingly includes ChatGPT.

MERCH

What better way to warm the heart of your favorite finance nerd than one of these Hawaiian shirts? They are a collaboration between The Compound and Tropical Bros. The best part is that 10% of all sales will be donated to No Kid Hungry.

COMING SOON

Josh and Michael will be joined this week by Nick Colas, co-founder of DataTrek Research. It’s hard to believe, but there are just two TCAF episodes left in 2024!
