INSIDE THE COMPOUND
Knowing who is on your side in the investing world is harder than ever. So you should arm yourself with the ability to sort valid claims from scams. Nick Maggiulli at Of Dollars and Data looks at some common ways that bad actors try to get one over on you. He writes:
If there is one rule I’d abide by to avoid getting scammed in the investment world it’s this—free lunches are rare. In economics they teach us that “there is no such thing as free lunch.” In other words, everything has a cost.
This is true almost all of the time in investing as well. You don’t get something for nothing. If you want great returns, you generally have to take great risks. And though exceptions to this “rule” exist, they are incredibly rare.
