Losing It All

This Week on The Compound

Josh and Michael were joined by Paul Hickey, co-founder of Bespoke Investment Group, and Gunjan Banerji, lead writer for The Wall Street Journal's live markets coverage. They discussed Nvidia earnings, the rise in risky ETFs, why you should ignore politics when investing, and what it’s like to lose it all. (Listen)

INSIDE THE COMPOUND

Michael Batnick, writing at The Irrelevant Investor, discussed how the different generations talk about each other and how these patterns repeat over time.

The people are different, but the feelings are always the same. Every generation will complain that the youth are getting soft, while the young people will complain that the previous generation had it easy. Same as it ever was.

FRIENDS OF THE COMPOUND

Seemingly, no one is happy with the housing market in the U.S. The situation looks even worse when you layer on the growing problem of housing insurance in hard-hit states like California and Florida. The bigger question is whether house values should reflect this uncertainty. Prior TCAF guest Kyla Scanlon writes.

Home insurers are telling regulators - “Hey, listen, the options are no insurance, underinsurance, and more expensive insurance. So buckle up.” The reason that home insurers are doing this is because they are losing a lot of money.

MERCH

Summer is rapidly coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use a one-of-a-kind finance-themed Hawaiian shirt. It is a collab between The Compound and Tropical Bros. The best thing is that 10% of all sales will be donated to No Kid Hungry. You can also use the promo code Labor25 for a limited time to get an additional discount.

COMING SOON

Next week, Josh and Michael will be joined by Jill Schlesinger of Jill on Money fame, and returning guest Tony Dwyer, Market Strategist at Canaccord Genuity.
