This Week on The Compound

On TCAF this week, Josh and Michael were joined by Sam Ro of TKer by Sam Ro and Dan Greenaus, Chief Economist & Strategist at Solus Alternative Asset Management. They discussed NotebookLM as the future of podcasting, the surge in Chinese stocks, what an "average" year in the market looks like, and the decline of cable television.

INSIDE THE COMPOUND

Last week’s episode of TCAF with Tom Lee of FundStrat now has over 200,000 views on YouTube. In a post this week, Josh wrote about why it is so important to have real, long-form conversations with people like Tom. Josh writes:

Tom appears on television all the time. But there’s something unique about giving him 90 minutes to go deeper than just the soundbites and talking points that TV formats usually require. This is what podcasts were made for. They don’t replace the immediacy and urgency of the cable news networks. They give deep thinkers like Tom the space to say something more substantive beyond just commenting about the news of that day.

OUTSIDE THE COMPOUND

Blair duQuesnay recently spoke with George Kinder, the 'father of life planning' about his new book The Three Domains of Freedom. They discussed Kinder's idea of applying the fiduciary standard to more organizations in society and what that could achieve. You can also listen to Kinder talk with Dan Haylett on the Humans vs. Retirement podcast. duQuesnay writes:

Kinder’s proposed solution is to create a Fiduciary In All Things (F.I.A.T.) standard for all corporations, nonprofits, and governmental agencies. He believes this one sentence of legislation would hold entities accountable to all stakeholders instead of our current limited liability system. It’s a big idea that would shift one of capitalism’s bedrock principles, which holds corporations only accountable to shareholders.
